Computational and digital archaeologist, amateur (aspirational) game developer, focus on game design and programming Working in Unity and Blender I’m interested in the potential interaction of archaeological agent-based models and videogames. As a modeller and a researcher, I all too often get frustrated when explaining formal models to virtually anyone who does not make models. ABM is far from being an intuitive way of approaching archaeological questions, and sharing its virtues with colleagues and the general public is a serious, hard, and unattended problem. On the other hand, as a gamer, I recognise the enormous pedagogical potential of videogames. I believe this media can help researchers like myself better communicate, through player experience, the rules, assumptions, and implications of complex models. Moreover, agent-based simulation models (ABMs) with archaeological/historical backgrounds can help to create better (more interesting, truthful, ethical) videogames for the industry.
